Zoological name: The zoological name of giant panda is Ailuropoda melanoleuca. The giant panda is sometimes called bamboo bear.
Distribution: It is found in Szechuan, Shensi and Kansu provinces of Central and Eastern China.
Habitat: Giant pandas are found in cool and dense bamboo forests at elevations of 5000 to 13000 ft.
Physical feature: The length is about 160-180 cm including the tail and the body weight is 75-160 kg. The giant panda has a dense white coat marked with deep black on the limbs, ears, muzzles, shoulders and around the eyes. Total number to teeth is 42 (I: 3/3; C: 1/1; PM: 4/4; M: 2/3). The carnassial teeth are adapted to both slicing and crushing.
